Growing slowly, up high and in reasonably low temperatures, the tea bushes grown in this area of East Africa are allowed to develop a deeper flavour ahead of them being hand-picked. To ensure quality, Birchall Tea never use machinery to pick guaranteeing that the leaf, the bud and the stem are skillfully pinched together which allows the Birchall Great Rift Tea to retain its brightness and invigorating flavour.
Plastics are found within most tea bags, which is a commonly unknown fact. However, the award-winning prism tea bags which Birchall create are not only plastic-free but also fully biodegradable using a corn starch deriving from plants named “SoilOn”. Under the correct environmental conditions these tea bags will compost down through a process which generally takes around 2-4 years in water or soil.
