Mbila Twiga, translates to two giraffes coming together, symbolising the collaboration of farmers from Kilimanjaro and Arusha working together to produce this blend. Smallholders in Tanzania account for around 90% of national output from over 320,000 farmers producing both Arabica and Robusta. The highlands of Kilimanjaro are ideal conditions for Arabica to grow due to the high altitude and nutrient rich soil, while Robusta is grown closer to Lake Victoria in the Kagera region of Tanzania.
